I’ve got a house.
A car.
A loving family.
Money in the bank.
Friends.
No girlfriend, but I hope to find the right person someday.
But still…
I get this feeling that there is more out there for me.
That I haven’t quite tapped into yet.
I don’t know what it is.
But it’s something.
I think humans constantly live with the grass is always greener mentality.
Where we are happy with our lives.
But deep down, we all know there is much more potential to be fulfilled.
What’s the remedy for this?
I think it’s essential to make small progress in areas in our lives that are important to us.
I’ll give you an example of what is important to me.
I want to be in the best possible shape without compromising my health.
I think it’s a shame to go through life without pushing your body to its limits and seeing what you can achieve and look like physically.
So, I work out three times a week, go on walks, and eat healthily.
I want to be a writer, so I write almost every day, even if it’s only for 30 minutes.
The difficult thing about success is there is no cookie cutter road map that we can all follow for success.
Its mainly about trial and error and about following what we enjoy and are drawn to.
I’ll give you a personal story.
I grew up in Washington, North East England, most of my friends and many other men locally get engineering/blue collar jobs.
Getting a job as an engineer or becoming a tradie is the well-trodden path to success in Washington.
But although I love my friends who are engineers, who are now excelling.
The engineering job wasn’t for me.
It seemed boring and unfulfilling.
Whereas writing and speaking to others is something I enjoy.
And that’s the path I’m taking.
Happiness is individual.
And in order to be happy you must know thy self.
And what your calling is in life.
And once you know your calling.
Your job is to pursue that unlived life.
And make it a reality.
Make sure your ladder to success is leaning against the right wall.
You could be a great success, say, as an accountant, but this success will feel hollow to you if your dream was to become a chef or a writer.
