For a while, I’ve been very reactive, and I’ve been expending my energy on getting frustrated on things outside of my control.
Whether that be an unkind person, a pattern I despise in the world, or anything that causes an emotional reaction in me.
I’m trying not to be so reactive, and to instead only focus on what I have control over.
Ultimately I don’t have control over what people say or do, and there’s people in this world, so there’s bound to be some insufferable ones, there always has been.
I’m just writing this post to make you aware that protecting your energy is so important.
And my friend, try not to expend it on anything outside your control.
I know it’s easier said than done but this advice has been tried and tested since Epictetus peddled it 2000 years ago.
If you can work on getting better at anything this week try to get better at this.
That’s what I’m trying to do because I’m sick of being mentally fried when I don’t need to be.
And I believe that’s because I’ve been diverting my attention and energy to useless things I have no control over.
